Viking mythology believed the Northern Lights illuminating the sky were the reflections of the Valkyries' armour as they led the warriors to Odin. Valkyries’ are symbolic of the courage, physical strength and the empowerment of women.
Since 1900, women have competed alongside men in the Olympic Games, proving their strength, resilience, and tenacity to succeed & overcome. Since then the Olympic Games have become a beacon of hope, daring everyone to dream, reach and fight in battle, for their daring goals. While the Olympic Games celebrate the courage and physical strength of all who compete, the athletes inspire, lead through adversity, and prove, against odds, their ability to become a northern light, leading the way for the next generation of athletes.
The Reykjavik 2030 brand guide is bound using a button-hole binding method that takes elements of the mark to wrap around the bound edge. From the spine, you can see the individual folios wrapped in a panoramic view of Reykjavik.
This is a graduate school project and not a real proposal for the 2030 Olympic games.
